A short tale of sisters.

How I met Christine and Shine (yes, that is her real name; yes, it is a pretty cool name) is a short and unremarkable tale.                                                                                                                                 “Kapatid” means “siblings” in the Filipino language. Christine and Shine are as comfortable behind the lens as they are in front. They both have unique but similar styles. I guess it comes with the kapatid genes. Though not biological siblings, they do literally almost everything together.

I met Christine at the last place on your mind (don’t go too far, it was at school). I see her always hanging with this other Asian girl (Shine). Always looking out for each other, checking up and everything else you’d expect sisters to do, I approach them and ask “Are you sisters?” (well, of course, I talk to Christine by then). I honestly do not know the answer I expected.

Oo, sabihin mo sa kanya na magkapatid tayo” Christine said to Shine. Then Shine answered with a “Yes”.

It did not take a long time before we all mixed up. Knowing they both had a passion for being behind the camera and in front, I came up with the idea of having a “test shoot” and they agreed; surprisingly. Christine and Shine have one of those rare faces from another time, and yet somehow, equally ahead of their time. There’s a no-nonsense boyish charm that somehow increases their disarming degree of allure.

There’s a thrill in spontaneous location shooting that triggers the same stage adrenaline as any performance art – particularly when your environment is completely unfamiliar and as dynamic as Fort McMurray. Barely anyone does visual art, so it is non-native to the locals. Both art enthusiasts (Christine and Shine) are always ready for a creative exercise regardless it being outdoors or indoors.  It is almost second-nature for them to put up a wonderful “performance”. That excludes the complication of persuading the non-modeling models to get in their comfort zone.

This is an unpremeditated post. I would say this is my way of exploring this domain (yes, Image creation. I mean, I would also go to restaurants and other places but then lahat ay may kagustuhan everyone have their preference).

I am not going bore you with a long ass article, so I am just going to jump to the conclusion. The sisters are the first people you would want to meet when you enter a new country or province, they are your dream tour guides.
